SSC CGL - Age Relaxation

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) provides age relaxation for candidates belonging to certain categories as per the government's regulations. The age relaxation criteria for the SSC CGL exam are as follows:

Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST): The maximum age limit is relaxed by 5 years.Other Backward Classes (OBC): The maximum age limit is relaxed by 3 years.

Persons with Disabilities (PwD):

·       For SC/ST candidates with disabilities, the maximum age limit is relaxed by 15 years.

·       For OBC candidates with disabilities, the maximum age limit is relaxed by 13 years.

·       For General category candidates with disabilities, the maximum age limit is relaxed by 10 years.

Ex-Servicemen:

·       For Group B posts, the age relaxation is as per the government rules.

·       For Group C posts, the age relaxation is applicable based on the length of military service plus 3 years, up to a maximum of 45 years of age.

Defense Personnel disabled during hostilities:

·       For SC/ST candidates, the maximum age limit is relaxed by 8 years.

·       For OBC candidates, the maximum age limit is relaxed by 6 years.

·       For General category candidates, the maximum age limit is relaxed by 5 years.

Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated and not remarried:

The maximum age limit is relaxed by 7 years for General candidates, 10 years for OBC candidates, and 15 years for SC/ST candidates.

Central Government Civilian Employees:

·       For General candidates, the maximum age limit is relaxed by up to 40 years of age.

·       For OBC candidates, the maximum age limit is relaxed by up to 43 years of age.

·       For SC/ST candidates, the maximum age limit is relaxed by up to 45 years of age.

Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from January 1, 1980, to December 31, 1989: The maximum age limit is relaxed by 5 years.

It is important to note that the above age relaxations are subject to certain conditions and documentation requirements as prescribed by the government and SSC. Candidates must carefully review the official SSC CGL notification and guidelines for the particular year to understand the eligibility criteria and age relaxation provisions.
